    the progress pile progresses
    The progress pile progresses.

Colors. That’s the name of one of my favorite magazines. It’s also what I’m going to write about.

I’ve been setting a lot of limits on the design for this project. This many fonts, that many font sizes, width A or width B, and color choices 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6. In this sense, the design has become very technical. Maybe I should get out my Schaedler Rules. Of course, there is still tons of room for creativity, but this project requires creativity supplemented with a technical eye and a disciplined consistency. Yes! A big part of this project is the organization and presentation of lots and lots of information. When you have lots and lots, it’s usually a good idea to set some limits. It helps you design, and it helps users understand. Simple enough concept: if things are consistent, they are easier to understand. Quote that.

Huh, guess I didn’t write about colors. Well, did I mention I’m using a red, white and blue color palette? But it doesn’t look patriotic at all, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Great post Erin! For those of you who don’t know what Schaedler Rules are, here’s a link. There. I just saved you a few minutes of Googling/Wikiing around. (I didn’t know what they were either - and I’m a designer too, or at least I claim to be.)

I think all web-related apps should be smart enough to compensate the large vacuum between human intentions and human actions.

I just commented that I am posting a link – but got carried away while typing and didn’t post that link. All software should have a pop-up saying “did you mean to post a link, you idiotic human?” It should randomly pop up no matter what you are doing because chances are, you forgot to attach a link or attachment.

Fact: If I could stack 84% of 2/3 of all the times I forgot to attach a link or attacment, they would reach a majority of the way to the moon, at low tide. (source: wikipedia)

After this comment, I’ll write an AppleScript for this (warning: do not hold your breath or email me asking for that AppleScript. This is just good intentions, no action will be applied – I promise. Also, I can’t write AppleScripts. In fact, I don’t think the ’s’ in Applescript is supposed to be capitalized.)

Drat. I just proved my case in point.

Now go measure all of your coffee cups… now.

Andy, are you sure that’s coffee?
